Empowering Local Students with Scholarships

Supporting Iredell County seniors through education funding.
The Mooresville Rescue Squad Foundation is dedicated to supporting high school seniors in the southern Iredell County area through scholarship opportunities. We aim to honor local public servants by naming each scholarship after them, fostering community pride and commitment to education.
For years, the Mooresville Rescue Squad was a vital part of the community, providing essential emergency services to those in need. However, a decade ago, the squad ceased operations when county funding was discontinued. Determined to carry on the legacy of service, a dedicated group of citizens established the Mooresville Rescue Squad Foundation using proceeds from the sale of the Rescue Squad’s two buildings.
Under the leadership of Foundation Chairman Frank Owens, the organization has remained steadfast in its commitment to supporting the Mooresville community. Over the years, the Foundation has made a significant impact, awarding nearly $200,000 in scholarships to high school seniors pursuing careers as first responders or in other public service fields.
In addition to scholarships, the Foundation has provided critical resources to local schools and organizations. It has donated CPR manikins and automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to southern Iredell County schools, including one that saved a student’s life at Lake Norman High School. The Foundation has also equipped the Mooresville Police Department with 17 AEDs and contributes $5,000 annually to the Crosby Scholars program.
